Join us for an intensive writing workshop with the artist and author Nadja Abt. Three days long, we will explore the current trend of first-person narration and the possibilities of autofictional in collective writings.
In recent years, there has been a real boom in autofictional writing, or a trend to call literature autofiction. In terms of content, these books often refer to the visual arts, or their authors come from the art world. Why female* authors in particular are associated with this genre and why the trend is moving further and further towards first-person narration is one part we will explore. The second part of the workshop will be a collective writing process, using different steps, which will release our own blockades and test new narrative structures, similar to the so-called Writers` Room in the film business. With literature by Moyra Davey, Marguerite Duras, Ben Lerner, Deborah Levy, Eileen Myles and many more.
Texts for preparation will be provided before the workshop. The course will be mainly in German, with some texts given out in English. During the days in Eppan, you may also write in English. During the three days in Eppan, the workshop will focus on the connection between literature and visual arts with readings and discussions. The workshop will be moderated by Nadja.
Please enroll until beginning of April. We will provide you with a reader ten days before the workshop starts. There are possibilities to spend the night in the residence. Just write to us if you would like to reserve a room!
The number of participants is limited to eight. Cost 170 euros including lunch. 30 % student discount.

Wir laden herzlich zu einem intensiven Schreibworkshop mit der Künstlerin und Autorin Nadja Abt ein. Drei Tage lang, werden wir den Trend zur Ich-Erzählung untersuchen und die Möglichkeiten des Autofiktionalen in kollektiven Schreibenprozessen ausloten.
In den letzten Jahren gab es einen regelrechten Boom des autofiktionalen Schreibens, bzw. einen Trend, Literatur als Autofiktion zu betiteln. Inhaltlich beziehen sich jene Bücher oft auf die bildende Kunst, bzw. stammen ihre Verfasser*innen aus der Kunstwelt. Warum vor allem weibliche* Autorinnen mit diesem Genre assoziiert werden und warum der Trend immer weiter zur Ich-Erzählung geht, ist ein Teil, den wir untersuchen wollen. Als zweiten Teil des Workshops werden wir selbst anhand verschiedener Schritte einen kollektiven Schreibprozess angehen, der eigene Blockaden löst und, ähnlich zum sog. Writers` Room im Filmgeschäft, neue Erzählstrukturen testet. Mit Literatur von Moyra Davey, Marguerite Duras, Ben Lerner, Deborah Levy, Eileen Myles uvm.
Texte zur Vorbereitung werden vor dem Workshop bereitgestellt. Der Kurs findet hauptsächlich auf Deutsch statt, wobei einige Texte auf Englisch ausgegeben werden. Während der Tage in Eppan kann auch englisch geschrieben werden.
Während der drei Tage in Eppan wird der Workshop mit Lesungen und Diskussionen den Zusammenhang von Literatur und bildender Kunst in den Fokus nehmen. Der Workshop wird von Nadja moderiert.
Anmeldungen sind bis Anfang April möglich. Zehn Tage vor Beginn des Workshops wird die Lektüre verschickt. Es gibt die Möglichkeit, in der Residenz zu übernachten. Einfach uns kontaktieren und Platz reservieren!
