Writing Workshop
with Lauren Fournier
Schloss/castello Gandegg
Pigenoer Weg/Via Piganó 19
39057 Eppan/Appiano
In this workshop, writer and curator Lauren Fournier (she/her) will lead participants in experimenting with different genres and forms of autotheoryfictions in their practices. Autotheoryfiction describes the commingling of autobiography or memoir, theory or philosophy, and fictionalization to varying degrees and effects. The workshop will include reading and discussing short texts together, engaging in writing exercises in response to prompts, and exploring modes of processing their stories and ideas.
For the fall 2022, Lauren is in residence at Eau&Gaz. Her first book Autotheory as Feminist Practice in Art, Writing, and Criticism (The MIT Press, 2021) has been reviewed and featured in such venues as Art in America, Hyperallergic, Columbia Journal of Literary Criticism, and The Los Angeles Review of Books. She is now writing her second book on the topic, Autotheoryfictions in the Twenty-First Century, in which she reads pressing social issues, current events, and debates through ideas of auto, theory, and fiction. A curator too, she is the director/founder of the ongoing, site-responsive curatorial platform Fermenting Feminism, and has won international curatorial awards. Her curatorial programs and editorial offshoots, including the artist’s book Critical Booch (2019), has been featured in venues like The New York Times.
The number of participants is limited to eight. Cost 170 euros including lunch. 30 % student discount.
