The Mole and the Garden

To be completely absorbed in an activity, to forget time and place and to dwell in one's own thoughts describes the happy feeling of complete immersion. This so-called flow experience is not an easy undertaking as a mother, which means being constantly on call and permanently distracted.
The exhibition "The Mole and the Garden" is named after one of Kira Kessler's never before shown works, in which the textile designer incorporated experiences of motherhood and the accompanying symbiosis, which she humorously redescribes with a mole and its garden.
During the Bolzano Art Weeks, a series of handmade textile paintings can be seen in the library at Gandegg Castle. In dialogue with Kessler's works is the study "In The Name of the Mother," by author, art critic and columnist Rosalyn D'Mello, in which she relates the intellectual and creative capacities that are primarily produced by women and in the privacy of the home to the work of contemporary feminist artists.

In einer Tätigkeit restlos aufzugehen, Zeit und Ort zu vergessen und in den eigenen Gedanken zu verweilen, beschreibt das beglückende Gefühl einer völligen Vertiefung. Dieses sogenannte Flow-Erlebnis ist kein einfaches Unterfangen als Mutter, was bedeutet, ständig auf Abruf und dauerhaft abgelenkt zu sein.
Die Ausstellung "The Mole and the Garden" ist nach einer der noch nie gezeigten Werke Kira Kesslers benannt, in denen die Textildesignerin Erfahrungen von Mutterschaft und die einhergehende Symbiose, die sie humorvoll mit einem Maulwurf und seinem Garten umbeschreibt, einarbeitete.
Während der Bozen Art Weeks sind eine Reihe von handgefertigten textilen Gemälden in der Bibliothek im Schloss Gandegg zu sehen. Im Dialog zu den Arbeiten Kesslers steht die Studie "In The Name of the Mother", der Autorin, Kunstkritikerin und Kolumnistin Rosalyn D´Mello, in der sie die intellektuellen und kreativen Fähigkeiten, die vornehmlich von Frauen und in der Privatsphäre des Hauses entstehen, in Zusammenhang mit der Arbeit zeitgenössischer feministischer Künstlerinnen stellt.

In un'attività di totale coinvolgimento, dimenticando tempo e luogo e immergendosi nei propri pensieri, si descrive la gioiosa sensazione di un'assoluta immersione. Questa cosiddetta esperienza di "flusso" non è un'impresa facile come madre, poiché significa essere costantemente a disposizione e distratti in modo continuo.
La mostra "Mole and Garden" prende il nome da una delle opere mai esposte di Kira Kessler, in cui la designer tessile incorpora le esperienze della maternità e la simbiosi ad essa associata, descritte con umorismo attraverso una talpa e il suo giardino.
Durante le Bozen Art Weeks, è possibile ammirare una serie di opere tessili fatte a mano nella biblioteca del castello di Gandegg. In dialogo con le opere di Kessler, si trova lo studio "In The Name of the Mother" dell'autrice, critica d'arte e giornalista Rosalyn D'Mello, in cui vengono presentate le capacità intellettuali e creative, principalmente femminili e sviluppate nella privacy della casa, in relazione al lavoro delle artiste femministe contemporanee.
